SSHCM responded to acute food insecurity in Shikarpur District, Sindh, by integrating immediate humanitarian assistance with longer-term, inclusive resilience-building. Designed in response to climate-induced floods and droughts, as well as entrenched social and economic exclusion, the project prioritized vulnerable households, particularly women, older people, and persons with disabilities.
Through a comprehensive package of food assistance, climate-resilient agriculture, women-led livelihood development, and community-based nutrition education, we addressed both immediate needs and the underlying drivers of food insecurity. By embedding inclusive Farmer Field Schools, disaster risk–informed practices, and evidence-based advocacy, SSHCM strengthened household food security, improved nutritional outcomes, and supported the transition toward sustainable, age- and gender-responsive food systems
The project contributed directly to SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) and advanced inclusive, climate-resilient recovery in vulnerable rural communities.
