Dr. Shafqat Munir Ahmad is a seasoned policy and resilience expert with over 30 years of experience in humanitarian, development, and policy-influencing work across Asia. He currently serves as the Deputy Executive Director (Policy) and Head of the Sustainability and Resilience Programme at the Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI), where he leads initiatives on climate resilience, disaster risk reduction, adaptive social protection, and sustainable urban development. Dr. Munir has previously worked with Oxfam GB, UNDP, and ActionAid International in senior leadership roles, contributing to regional and national policies on governance, climate change, and human rights. A recognized Ashoka Fellow, he is also the Founder Editor of Infochange News and Features Network (INFN) — Pakistan’s first development-focused news agency. His professional contributions include co-authoring Pakistan’s Mid-Term Review of the Sendai Framework on Disaster Risk Reduction and several research publications on climate vulnerability and resilient development. As a member of FAID’s Board, Dr. Munir provides strategic guidance on policy, governance, and inclusive resilience, strengthening FAID’s mission to promote ageing and inclusive development.
